1. Start with completing the informational section with your names, bride’s mailing address, a good email address and phone number to contact her. This info will be used when questions arise and to send flower photos.

2. Next, complete the wedding location information section, very important. Please double check the info when you are finished for accuracy. If your wedding and reception are at the same location, type the word, following, in the box marked for location of reception and then proceed to: approximate number of guests and approximate budget you have in mind.

3. Now the fun stuff! What do you have in mind for your bridal party flowers? Do the best you can with this section, I’m sure you don’t have all the answers yet. If you don’t have an answer for a question, you can say: not sure yet, no need or don’t want. I can help you with the, not sure yet answers when we can discuss in detail after you receive your quote.

4. Wedding Ceremony Flowers section, again, you may not have all of the answers yet. Just do the best you can and I will be happy to help.

WEDDING FLOWER PREPARATION

Dear brides to be,

I wanted to give you a little bit of insight about your beautiful wedding flowers for the big day and how this works.

When should you order your wedding flowers? This answer depends on the scale of flower coverage you want at your wedding. Flowers make the biggest impact at a wedding over all. It should be about ⅓ of your wedding day set up costs. For example: A small wedding with 4-5 bouquets, a flower girl’s basket with rose petals, 5-10 boutonnieres, 5 corsages and some flower petals to scatter on the ground. Throw in a cake table flower garland and maybe one for the sweetheart table as well. This flower preparation can be completed in a month’s time. I say a month because I also have other flower work to do. However, ordering the flowers, checking to make sure the flowers that arrive are the quality expected, and the order is correct. Any needed changes or problems will take double the time. It is best even with a small wedding to start as early as possible, minimum 4 months early, if possible.

On to bigger weddings: When you get into all of the beautiful flowers for the ceremony area/altar, all the reception tables, cake table, and the bride & groom sweetheart table or head table for the entire wedding party; this takes some serious planning and ordering time. Don’t forget, quite a bit of time to create all of these amazing arrangements. Plus, all of those lovely flowers we have spoken of, above, already. A larger wedding, I would definitely say plan and order a year in advance. If that’s not possible, get with me and we will work it out. It wouldn’t be the first time I’ve lost sleep or the last! Lol

Now we can talk about the gala event of grand weddings: huge staircases with amazing roses and/or hydrangeas lining the steps as it curves into the ceremony area. Many candelabras flickering, large floral centerpieces along isleways. Extravagent floral displays at the altar. Flowers and candles throughout long hallways leading guests into the banquet hall; where every table in the room is trimmed in gold or silver with lush flowers and greenery. It doesn’t stop there, the florals and greenery are even draping elegantly from above. Maybe an orchestra will be performing for the evening along with fine cuisine and champagne. I believe angels will be singing over this amazing wedding cake and floral centerpiece!

WEDDING FLOWER COMPARISON SHOPPING Real or Silk

Let’s start with what you think would be the most obvious difference between the two types. Do silk flowers look just as pretty as real flowers? See for yourself with similar style bouquets: Either one of these bouquets could be real or silk. When it’s this close, I’m not telling, LOL! What an awesome comparison though!!

How about durability? Real flowers do endure the elements growing in a garden. Although they lose their spunk when cut and/or keep them out of water for too many hours. This starts to weaken the flower and stems. Even if they are kept in water and a cooler for a few days, they will have to be out of water again to arrange all those flowers the day or two before a wedding. Some of the prettiest flowers are on the most fragile of stems and can break easily and petals can fall off in the shuffle to and fro. Hydrangeas outside on a hot sunny day in a bouquet cannot take the heat, they will start drooping and turning very quickly! I definitely believe silk flowers are far more durable and I’m not talking about super cheap ones like stores put out for Memorial Day. Those are pitiful but it’s hard to spend good money to get abused by the weather everyday. You do get what you pay for! Well made silk flowers should last a year and in most cases much longer. May need to take a hairdryer, on low heat, and blow off some dust once in a while. Sitting them in windows in direct sunlight for long hours each day may fade your flowers. If you are wanting a keepsake from your wedding and who doesn’t? Just keep them out of the sun, lol.

Ahhh the smell of real, fresh flowers! Well there is no competition here…silk will lose on this one. However, companies have come out with scents you can spray on your silk flowers to mimic the fragrances of real ones. Silk flowers have been saved once again! Just a side note, something most people don’t think about: For the sake of your entire wedding party including parents and grandparents… please check with each individual to make sure they are not allergic to perfumes. I am one of those people who are allergic and I would greatly appreciate not having perfumes on my personal flowers, thank you!! Lol

Do real flowers or silk flowers with dyes fade? I can’t really get a straight answer on whether deep red or dark purple flowers might fade into a wedding gown. Whether they rub the gown or if they get wet and the water is running off the petals. However, if the florist is spraying your flowers with dyes to make the color more dramatic, then yes, I would be cautious around your dress. I do know the stems leak and can leave water marks. Just have a towel handy to wipe the ends dry right after you remove them from a vase. I have worked with bold red, real touch silk flowers for a wedding and yes, the red could rub off or would run off if they got wet! Watch your bold colors of real or silk, I would be very cautious with either of them honestly.

Here’s a biggie…COST! I have done some comparison reading multiple times on this subject. Yes, real flowers do cost quite a bit more than silk flowers. Don’t get me wrong, premium silk flowers are definitely pricey. However, the cost of real flowers over silk can be about 2.5 times higher on average! Ouch! Then they die, sadly. Hydrangeas outside on a hot sunny day in a bouquet cannot take the heat, they will start drooping very quickly! get it, they are pretty, smell good and biodegradable but so many of us are on a budget due to the economy these last four years. I would put my money on lovely silk flowers that I could keep longer, any day! What would you choose?

Congratulations, now you get to plan your wedding together! A couple who can make decisions, follow through and work hard to pay for their dream wedding; are well on their way to a long lasting marriage. Planning a wedding is not an easy task but a fulfilling one. Time is the key…plan ahead at least a year or maybe two if it’s going to be a big wedding and/or expensive honeymoon.

A great place to start is your bridal party list and a simple list of guest names on the bride's side and the groom’s side. The more people in your wedding party the bigger the expense unless they pay for their own clothes and shoes. For the guest list, start with the closest family and friends you see often and get along with. It’s not necessary to invite everyone you both know to your wedding, just people you really want to share your special day. If there is someone that may be an issue, you have the time to work it out before your big day. Make this day especially peaceful, beautiful and joyful! ✝

Plan your wedding together and try to see the big picture. What does the groom want? What does the bride want? Then mix and match your ideas until you are both happy with the results. Try to make the day romantic yet fun for all. This is your wedding: It can be traditional, fun and unique all at the same time. Put your own vibe into your wedding!

If you are an adventurous couple, outdoors may be the way to go! Please keep your guests in mind who aren’t so adventuresome, for example: a backup tent in the event of rain, clean bathrooms nearby, plenty of parking, plenty of water to drink. If you set up at a park for example, it would be a great idea to rent or borrow a golf cart to give rides to those who can’t walk so far. Hot mid-summer days or possibly colder days in late fall will definitely limit your guests greatly. It's important to think things through.

Let’s think of ways to save money, make decorations yourselves and/or have family help. Same with the wedding food, drinks and cake…are there good cooks/bakers in your families? Maybe a friend or family member can make dresses for the bridesmaids and flower girls. When it comes to suits and, especially, tuxes you are probably better off renting. Check around for deals on rentals. If DIY isn’t an option, talk with multiple florists, caterers, photographers, etc...so you can make an educated decision. It doesn’t take long to figure out which is the good one to work with. Now you know who you want to work with, how much things cost, and don’t forget the honeymoon! With every decision you make, have a record of a budget for it. This way you can keep referring back to a checklist and stay on budget.

You have your guest list, when and where you want to get married…on to; how are we going to pay for it? If you are a lucky couple who can work some overtime, that extra pay can add up quickly, as long as you put it in a separate account just for your wedding expenses. If overtime isn’t an option, how about a temporary part time job like mowing, working in a grocery store, cleaning houses or other odd jobs you may have a talent for. You may need to work extra hours for a couple of years if you are wanting to pay for a nice honeymoon getaway as well. Working together to accomplish goals will bring you closer as a couple. Set your budgets, meet your goals and check them off one by one!

EASY FLORAL GATOR HAIR CLIPS FOR ANY OCCASION

These pretty hair clips were made for an amazing fun young grandmother and her two adorable and very energetic grand daughters!

What a fun project this is for anyone with a hot glue gun and a bit of patience.

1) You will need metal gator clips which I found in a package of five at the Dollar General store.

2) lightweight flowers of any kind, small roses, tropical, holiday ribbons, etc…

3) some leaves peeled from the stem, no plastic left on the leaf,

4) your hot glue gun (I use Gorilla glue gun and sticks) Supplies pictured below.

I open the gator clip and place something thin like wax paper(so the glue doesn't stick to the paper) then begin gluing your leaves flat across the top of your clip to cover it. Let the excess leaf hang over the edge of your clip. Next get your flowers ready: remove heads from stems or clip stems as close to flowers as possible. Some flower petals that are layered may need some extra gluing to hold the flower together. Do a quick layout over your clip to see how you want them to look. Now you can glue them in place with the main flowers along the top of the clip. Finish with extra leaves, filler flowers, stemmed shiny gems or baby’s breath. Here’s a tip, you can also glue a leaf or two inside the top of the clip to make it clean and neat.

Make a coordinating wrist corsage to match!! Again, start with light weight flower heads, a piece of round felt about the width of the person's wrist. A roll of soft (no wire) relaxed ribbon…sheer, satin or even sparkly ribbon. For smaller wrists use ⅞“ wide up to 1 7/8” and 2” wide up to 2.25” wide for larger wrists. Make sure to cut your ribbon long enough to tie a pearl bead sprays and/or sparkly gems. Tie to wrist and make a bow underneath or criss cross underneath and tie a bow behind the corsage flowers. Fluff the bow and cut excess length and angle ends to finish.

Flower arranging is more than just a hobby for me, it's a passion that requires constant honing of skills, especially when juggling the demands of running a business. Amidst the hustle and bustle, I always find joy in the artistry of working with beautiful blooms. 5. Options for a couple to pay for their own wedding

Set a wedding date for at least a year in advance or a few years ahead. Open a savings account specifically for your wedding funds. How about a separate checking account? Pay for all of your big day purchases with the convenience of using your debit cards or checks. Next, set your target amount of money and work together to reach it. This will allow you to get to your target amount sooner and bring you closer as a couple with accomplishing such a big goal
Taking on a second or third job, for example, try some odd jobs: mowing lawns and pulling weeds, snow removal, cleaning houses, etc…will also help you save quickly
Optimizing credit cards, using your points for your wedding purchases (great choice) or taking out a new card specifically for the wedding. Keep in mind, you could be paying interest for possibly years to come, depending on how much you put on it
Take a loan out for the wedding. There again, you could be paying interest for possibly years. A word of caution, inflation and the cost of borrowing money are both on the rise! Not the best of options
